According to police, the suspects were affiliated with a banned outfit and involved in assassinating police personnel.
Out of eight deceased, four were identified.
Two cops including an SHO were also injured during the gun battle.
Meanwhile, a policeman was gunned down in Karimabad by unknown assailants. He was standing guard at a meat market near Ismaili jamat khana.
The deceased cop was identified as Tabish.
