Police capture two 'masterminds' of Shikarpur blast

At least 60 people were killed when terrorists attacked the imambargah in Shikarpur on January 30th.

SSP Shikarpur Saqib Hussain, in a press conference, stated that prime suspects Ghulam Rasool Brohi and Khalil Ahmed Zehri were arrested in a raid at Abdul Khaliq Pindrani village. However, their accomplice managed to escape.

He stated that the arrested persons are affiliated with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Jaish-ul-Islam.

He added that the attacker who blew himself up was identified as 18 year old Mohammad Ilyas, a resident of Quetta.

The SSP informed that explosives, cars, motorcycles, mobile phones, pressure cookers, batteries, ball bearings and stolen items were also recovered from the arrested suspects.

“The attackers also wanted to carry out attacks at the protests staged by the Shia communities but failed to do so”, he added.

Hussain also said that the accused have also confessed of killing Allama Shafqat Matehri.

He added that IG Sindh has announced Rs. 2.5 million reward for the Police for arresting the two suspects.
