“Whenever we face any such incident, we should support each other for rule of law, sustainability of democracy and supremacy of constitution irrespective of whatever level of animosity between the opposition and the government,” the PM said while speaking at the joint parliament session here.
He said, “We are united for supremacy and upholding of constitution.” Government have reservations with the opposition and vice versa, he added.
This cause is a concern for all of us, he said, adding we should have a consensus on point regardless of any difference.
The prime minister added, “I feel proud that parliament has adopted a lawful course of action. All of them (parliamentarians) asked me that PM shouldn’t resign. I have no care of my power. Being the PM of Pakistan is a bed full of thrones and not a bed of roses.
He said objectives of protesters had already been come to light. Parliamentarians shouted ‘shame, shame!’ slogans when the PM highlighted about protesters.
Mr. Sharif said, “Head of the states of Maldives, Sri Lanka and China have cancelled their visits to Pakistan. China was about to make investment of $ 34 billion in Pakistan. This was an agenda for Pakistan for next 20 years.”
“Aitzaz also talked about on some issues, but irrespective of that I once again apologizes to Aitzaz Ahsan and Khursheed Shah,” said the PM.
“We have a big objective ahead to achieve. Once this situation defuses, we will sit and talk on the issues.”
He said, “Last time when Dr. Tahirul Qadri arrived in Islamabad. That time I invited all the leaders in Lahore and passed a resolution against the acts of Dr. Qadri in capital and his illegal move to topple the government. It was my obligation to do so,” he added.
He said it is a larger cause that everyone is united here. We should now come to the track and forget the minor issues that erupted a day ago.
