Sources said that Chairman PIA has contacted concerned officials and has sought time to meet the prime minister. He will brief the premier on the financial situation of the state institution and will also suggest ways on how to run the airline company, sources said.
It is said that the national flag bearer has to pay debt worth Rs. 160 billion to Civil Aviation Authority, fuel companies and to other airports.
PIA has to pay 20 million riyals to Jeddah and Medina airports for its Hajj Operation. The company required Rs. 160 billion to pay back its debt but the federal government has refused to issue the loan, sources said.Chairman PIA will talk to the prime minister highlighting the financial position of the company and will request the PM for financial assistance to meet the operational expenditure of the national airliner, sources added.
