PFA seals, fines six more food outlets in Lahore

The food authority raided Citi Bread’s production unit in Nishter town and imposed heavy fine due to poor personal hygiene, non compliance, dirty working surfaces and unclean pans.

Officials of PFA Ravi Town sealed Akbar Khan tea store in Dehli Gate due to packing of adulterated tea. The tea was adulterated with dye which was verified with on-spot testing. The tea store and a hidden godown were sealed and two persons arrested apart from seizure of 2500kg suspected tea.

Meanwhile, PFA in Gulberg town imposed fine on Cafe X2 due to expired bottles, no labeling on meat and rancid oil.

In another raid in Gulberg, Babulalay restaurant was sealed over unhygienic conditions, presence of cockroaches in kitchen, no medicals, expired products, open drains and no soap for washing hands and utensils.

Officials also visited Daewoo terminals and sealed canteens after finding no medicals, case hardening in meat, dirty filters, uncovered dustbins, dirty washing area and stagnant water.

The PFA has started process of categorization of food establishments, directing hotel owners/ managers to see the criteria at its official website www.punjabfoodauthority.gov.pk.

Hotel owners/ managers have been requested to kick off self-assessment as PFA will categorize food establishments now onwards.

The authority will officially intimate the owners/ managers one day prior to actual visit for categorization.
