According to their statement on Twitter, one of the climbers Tamara stopped a few meters before the destination mark.

Nanga Parbat base camp was attacked more than two years ago on June 22, 2013 which left 10 tourists dead including 9 foreign mountaineers.

The dead included one American, three Ukrainians, two Slovakians, one Lithuainian, one Chinese, a Sherpa from Nepal and a Pakistani guide. Police later said that the attackers managed to reach the camp after first kidnapping two Pakistani guides.

Several expeditions to Nanga Parbat – at 8,126 meters (26,660 feet), the world’s ninth highest peak and known among climbers as the Killer Mountain – have since been canceled, dealing a blow to Pakistan’s once thriving mountaineering sector at the height of the trekking season.
