It seems like Bollywood hasn’t had its fill of Pakistani actors and actresses, have they?
Momal Shiekh, who so happens to be the daughter of legendary Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh, will make her Bollywood debut opposite a renowned Indian director. According to sources, Momal Sheikh will be seen in an upcoming movie by famed director Aanad L Rai.
According to a leading Indian daily, Javed Sheikh was approached for a role in an upcoming Indian movie, for which he was told to find an actress fit for the role. The makers of the film instantly decided to cast Javed Sheikh’s daughter Momal Sheikh, when they came to know about her.
“When Aanand and Mudassar Aziz (director) discussed the film’s script with Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh, who has acted in Bollywood films like Namastey London (2007) and Om Shanti Om (2007), they informed him that they were looking for a female actor for an important role in the movie,” said a source.
“When they came across Javed’s daughter, Momal, they offered her the film,” the source further revealed.
One of the directors of the film, Aziz confirmed the reports and said that Momal had indeed been booked for the movie.
“When we met Javed saab, he didn’t mention Momal to us. It was a surprise to come across her during one of our meetings. We immediately decided to get her on board.”
Aanand L Rai has directed box office successes such as as Tanu Weds Manu, Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Raanjhanaa. He has had the pleasure of working with Bollywood actresses of note such as Kangana Ranaut and Sonam Kapoor.
Already Pakistani artists of note such as Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Sara Loren, Humaima Malick, Imran Abbas and Ali Zafar have already made their mark in the Indian film industry and continue to sign films. Will Momal Sheikh be yet another success story or not?
