Pakistan working to promote connectivity among countries: PM

ISLAMABAD: Commenting on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Pakistan was working to promote connectivity among the countries of the region and across the world as well.

“We are carving out a shared future in Pakistan leaving no one behind. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) will benifit not only the region but the whole world for decades or probably millenniums to come,” he said while addressing a news conference at World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Thursday.

He said the engagements at WEF would help generate billions of dollars’ business potentials in Pakistan.

“Pakistan had engaged the business leaders, company leaders of telecom, automotive technology and health care sectors at WEF,” he said.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Pakistan wanted strong relations with the United States. Pakistan has good relations with China and the US, he said adding that good ties with one country did not mean that ties with the other country would be affected.

He said that the government was working for bright future of the nation. He said the democracy was getting deep roots in Pakistan day by day.

Speaking on the occasion, Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that Pakistan was a peace loving country and strongly demanded the world to resolve issues of Kashmir, Palestine and Rohingya.

He said that Pakistan wanted strong relations with the USA and Washington should also step forward in this regards.

Minister National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar said that the despite very bad law and order situation in frontier areas the government was moving forward for polio free Pakistan.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the government was using the media to establish the soft image of Pakistan before the world by portraying the real face of Pakistan.
