International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been assured about the government’s decision, sources said.
The IMF has also sought explanation from the government’s economic managers about the packages offered to the agriculture sector and the textile industry.
The government has assured the IMF that the gas prices in the country will be enhanced from January 2016, sources said.
It is pertinent to be mentioned that the government had also hiked the gas tariffs by 63 percent in August this year.
The next meeting of the IMF officials and economic managers of Pakistan will be held in Dubai for review of the economic policies of the country at the end of October.
The IMF has also indicated the government to discuss the report of recent report of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
NEPRA had in a recent report alleged deliberate inflated billings by the power distribution companies which was resulted in a row between the regulatory authority and the power ministry.
