CHRISTCHURCH: Pakistan team slipped to fourth position in the ICC Test rankings on Tuesday after New Zealand whitewashed the team green in the final Test of two-match series in Hamilton.
New Zealand beat Pakistan by 138 runs in the second Test in Hamilton to secure a clean sweep of their two-Test series.
Set a target of 369 in their second innings, Pakistan were all out for 230 with less than six overs remaining in the match.
New Zealand, who won the first Test in Christchurch by eight wickets, claim their first series win over Pakistan in 31 years.
Indian retains the first spot in the Test rankings, followed by England on second, Australia third, while Zimbabwe at the bottom on 10th rank.
In August this year, Pakistan made history by clinching the number one position in the Test rankings
That was the second time that Pakistan has climbed to the number one position, the last time being 28-year-ago.
Pakistan, however, featured as a top team for only two months nearly three decades ago.
While in October, India displaced Pakistan as the No. 1-ranked Test team following their thumping win against New Zealand in the second Test in Kolkata, which gave them an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the series.
