ISLAMABAD: Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday said the number of passengers travelling in Pakistan Railways had increased by 14 million during the current government’s tenure.
“The confidence of the people has been restored in the railways with the effective policies of government,” he claimed while talking to media in Lahore.
The minister said Pakistan Railways had introduced online ticketing system to facilitate the passengers.
He said that the system of Railway was improving day by day, but it still needed ten to twelve years to stand on its feet.
“Recruitment in PR was made on merit basis and the government has saved railways from privatization,” he said.
Khwaja Saad Rafique also said that PR had played an important role in development at the national economy.
He said that Pakistan Railways’ profit was now about Rs50 billion.
