Pakistan, Oman agree to further augment defence cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Commander Royal Air Force of Oman Air Vice Marshal Matar Ali Matar Al-Obaidani on Monday visited Air Headquarters in Islamabad and called on Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan.

According to a Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Matar Ali Matar Al-Obaidani lauded the professionalism and achievements of Pakistan Air Force in recent years.

On this occasion , Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan offered support and cooperation in the field of aviation and military training to Royal Air Force of Oman.

Various matters of professional interest and regional security were came under discussion during the meeting, the spokesperson said and added that both the dignitaries agreed to further augment the bilateral defence cooperation between two countries.

On arrival, the distinguished guest was presented Guard of Honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Air Force.

To pay homage to the martyrs of Pakistan Air Force, Commander Royal Air Force of Oman laid floral wreath at Martyrs’ Monument.

Earlier, Pakistan and Oman had  vowed to enhance bilateral relations by boosting trade and investment on  January 31.

According to a joint statement that had been issued after the meeting of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Omani deputy Prime Minister Syed Fahad bin Muhammad al Syed in Muscat, the two countries had decided to improve their bilateral trade and economic ties.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said that they had inked multiple memorandum of understanding (MoUs) pertaining to labour, training and investment. He had urged Omani investors to invest in Pakistan and take advantage of business friendly environment.
