Pakistan may change batting order a bit: Coach Mickey Arthur

Pakistan head to Hamilton to play the fourth one day international against New Zealand.

The visitors have already lost the five-match series 3-0 and are playing to avoid a whitewash in the series.

However, they face a formidable New Zealand side who are aiming to win their 11th consecutive match across all formats for the first time in their history.

An exceptional spell of bowling from Trent Boult reduced the visitors to 32-8 and he bowled the last man Rumman Raees to clinch his five-wicket haul, as the hosts clinched a clinical 183-run win.

Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur said Pakistan may change their batting order a bit, with Haris Sohail possibly coming in and one of Mohammad Hafeez or Shoaib Malik going out. Arthur also mentioned the possibility of the opening positions tinkered with. That could mean Azhar Ali dropping down the order, and Imam-ul-Haq coming in.

Pakistan’s batting was utterly exposed and ripped to shreds in Dunedin, but they don’t have much to show for themselves from the other two fixtures either.

The fact that Shadab Khan, their No.7 batsman is the second-highest scorer for them after Fakhar Zaman in the series.

Legendary batsman Younus Khan has also urged current national team captain Sarfraz Ahmed to start performing on a personal level, otherwise, his spot in the team may come under question.

“Pakistani batsmen have almost always found it difficult to play against New Zealand in New Zealand,” he said. “The conditions there are quite different and are arguably even tougher than what you find in England, South Africa or even Australia,” he added.

The pitch conditions are likely to be overcast in Hamilton, but showers are unlikely to interrupt the game. The pitch is expected to play faster than the one in Dunedin.

The Kiwis clinched the ODI series by winning the third ODI by 183 runs at Dunedin.
