Around 1000 death convicts have been in Pakistan’s jails for implementation of their sentence.
According to a government order, the ban on the death sentence has been lifted and the implementation on the penalty will start after 48 hours.
According to the order, capital punishment will be given to the convicts who had been awarded death sentences on terrorism charges.
The government of Pakistan had imposed a ban over death penalty in the country over the demand of the European Union and the international human rights organizations.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has taken the decision after Tuesday’s terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar which claimed 141 lives including 132 schoolchildren and nine staff members including the Principal.
Death Row Convicts in Sindh Jails
The total count of the prisoners in Sindh jails with death sentence, has been 458 and black warrants of scores of the convicts have been issued.
The death penalty convicts also included the members of various banned groups.
Around 47 convicts’ have filed appeals in Supreme Court against their death sentences, while 23 have sent mercy appeals to the president against their convictions.
According to Karachi Central Jail sources, the jail administration could make arrangements to execute death sentence within 48 hours.
