ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan in a latest tirade against US President Donald Trump said Pakistan had suffered enough in the US war on terror and now it would do what was best for its people, ARY News reported.

In response to Trump’s accusation against Pakistan, Imran Khan said the US president’s false assertions added insult to the injury Pakistan had suffered in the US war on terror in terms of lives lost and destabilised and economic costs.

“He needs to be informed about historical facts. Pakistan has suffered enough fighting US’s war. Now we will do what is best for our people and our interests,” he said.

In his latest tweet the US president alleged that America paid Pakistan billions of dollars and they never told them that Osama was living there.

“Of course we should have captured Osama Bin Laden long before we did. I pointed him out in my book just BEFORE the attack on the World Trade Center. President Clinton famously missed his shot. We paid Pakistan Billions of Dollars & they never told us he was living there. Fools!

“…We no longer pay Pakistan the $Billions because they would take our money and do nothing for us, Bin Laden being a prime example, Afghanistan being another. They were just one of many countries that take from the United States without giving anything in return. That’s ENDING!” he wrote on his Twitter account.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Imran Khan hit back at President Donald Trump’s statement against Pakistan by saying that instead of making Pakistan a scapegoat for US failures, the Trump administration should do a serious assessment of why the Taliban are stronger in Afghanistan than before.

The PM took to Twitter, saying: “Instead of making Pakistan a scapegoat for their failures, the US should do a serious assessment of why, despite 140000 NATO troops plus 250,000 Afghan troops & reportedly $1 trillion spent on war in Afghanistan, the Taliban today are stronger than before.”

Last day in an interview with an American news channel, Defending his administration’s decision to halt “Pakistan’s aid”, US President Donald Trump on Sunday alleged that Pakistan had done nothing for the United States of America.

He said America had asked Pakistan to curb terrorism in Afghanistan, which was not complied.

“And we gave Pakistan $1.3 billion a year… [but bin Laden] lived in there, we’re supporting Pakistan, we’re giving them $1.3 billion a year –which we don’t give them anymore, by the way, I ended it because they don’t do anything for us, they don’t do a damn thing for us,” he claimed while talking to the news channel.
