ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar has said that there is no restriction on supermodel Ayyan Ali from traveling abroad.

The Chief Justice made the remark while hearing the contempt of court plea filed by Ayyan Ali against Secretary Interior over not removing her name from the Exit Control List (ECL), ARY News reported.

The apex judge, hearing the case, said that the court had earlier issued its verdict on the petition.

“All petitions have become void after the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan,” he added.

The chief justice said, “There is no restriction on Ayyan Ali from traveling outside Pakistan.”

He also remarked that the detailed verdict on the petition will be announced soon.

It should be noted that model Ayyan Ali had filed a contempt of court petition against secretary of Interior, stating that her name was not being removed from the ECL despite the orders from the apex court.

The model pleaded to the court to remove her name from the ECL and take action against Secretary Interior and other officials on flouting the court orders.

It should be noted that the apex court had ordered removal of Ayyan Ali’s name from the list on 30th January, 2017.

Earlier, Sindh High Court (SHC) judge Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto had given a verdict for removing Ayyan’s name from the ECL on 19th January, 2017.

Ayyan Ali was arrested on March 14, 2015 on charges of money laundering after customs officials had recovered over 500,000 US dollars from her luggage at Islamabad airport before she could reportedly board a flight to Dubai.

Her name has been included and excluded several times from the ECL since her arrest.
