Anupam Kher is known for not biting his tongue and issuing straight-forward statements when the situation calls for it. Most recently he was in the spotlight for criticising actor Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran, following Aamir’s remarks about India being intolerant. Anupam had reminded Aamir Khan that it was India who had made him what he was today.

Well, it seems that the 60 year-old actor has again spoken out, this time against playing cricket with Pakistan. Talking to media personnel, Kher said that there was no need to play cricket with Pakistan till his people were being killed on the front.
“According to me, till the time our people are being killed on the front, matches should not be held. If diplomacy says that we should give a chance to enemy or neighbours, sports has its own status, people have their own status and music has its own status, that diplomacy has to be sorted out by the government,” he said.
His statement comes following PCB’s announcement that the Pakistani government had given its go ahead to the cricket team to play a cricket series against India. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is yet awaiting permission from the Indian government.
Referring to the recent death of Santosh Mahadik in an encounter with militants in Kashmir, Kher said:-
“Some things are above other things. What I feel is we should show sensitivity and cricket matches can be postponed for the time being, till situation becomes normal. When people stop killing innocents… then we will think. There is no urgency to play,” he said.
Anupam Kher isn’t mincing his words when it comes to talking about playing cricket with arch-rivals Pakistan. Will any artist from Pakistan’s side condemn and respond to Kher’s statement?
