ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan briefed the National Assembly on the attack on Karachi Airport Attack two days after the incident, ARY News reports on Tuesday.
The session was presided by Speaker of the Parliament Ayaz Sadiq.
Briefing the Parliament, Chaudhry Nisar said that he was surprised that how can terrorists storm the area with rocket launchers and ammunition and no one was there to stop them.
“The gunmen were wearing uniforms of the Airport Security Force (ASF) and their aim was to make demands after taking people hostage. The rocket launchers were brought to destroy the aircrafts but they were not successful in their motives”, Nisar said.
The Interior Minister said that the soldiers of the Pakistan Army ensured security by sacrificing their lives.
He claimed that an intelligence alert was sent to the Sindh Government in March. He added that the gate through which the terrorists entered was labelled as a “security risk” in an advisory.
