New Zealand series real challenge for Pakistan team, says Akram

LAHORE: Former fast bowler and cricket legend Waseem Akram has said that the performance in New Zealand will show the real mettle of Pakistan’s cricket team.

The former cricket captain was talking to media here after a seminar on diabetes awareness in Allama Iqbal Medical College.

Replying a question on the performance of the cricket team Akram said the pitches are difficult and playing conditions are different in New Zealand.

He said the team has won the series against West Indies but their performance in New Zealand will be the real challenge.

He expressed hope for a better performance of the team in New Zealand.

Avoid junk food, eat vegetables

Earlier, speaking at a seminar on the World Diabetes Day, the cricket legend called the youth to change their eating habits, avoid burgers and prefer maximum use of vegetables in their diet.

He warned against late night eating and called it a first step towards diabetes.

“In case of the condition of diabetes you are your own best doctor in the world,” he said.

He said he was diagnosed sugar disease at the age of 29 years but he continued his positive mindset and played over 200 matches and set several records after the diagnosis.
