Nation to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha with religious fervor today

ISLAMABAD: The nation will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha today with religious zeal and fervor commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S).

The day will dawn with special prayers in mosques for well-being of the Ummah and progress prosperity and security of the country.

Eid congregations would be held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all cities, towns and villages across the country.

Religious scholars would highlight significance of the day and philosophy of sacrifice. In the federal capital, the main Eid congregation will be held at Islamabad’s Faisal Mosque where federal Ministers, politicians and parliamentarians, Muslim diplomats and notables would join thousands of faithful in prayers.

After offering Eid prayers, the faithful will slaughter their sacrificial animals.

Eid-ul-Adha commemorates the sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah, before Allah replaced the son with a ram to be sacrificed instead.

It is tradition for those who can afford it to sacrifice domestic animals as a symbol of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son.

Eid al-Adha marks the end of Hajj, which is one of the five pillars of Islam, and should be undertaken by every Muslim who can afford to do perform the pilgrimage.
