Muslim family asked to leave plane citing ‘safety reasons’

According to a foreign news agency, Eaman-Amy Saad Shebley along with her husband and three children had boarded the flight set to depart for Washington when the pilot asked them to disembark.

The family had also asked the crew whether they could provide harness safety seats for their children.

Shebley shot the videos which showed the pilot telling her to leave the aircraft with the family.

When Shebley asked if the pilot’s decision to asking her along with her family was a discriminatory one, he replied that it was due to a flight safety issue but did not give any details.

Shebley’s Facebook status read, “Shame on you ‪#‎unitedAirlines for profiling my family and me for no reason other than how we look and kicking us off the plane for “safety flight issues” on our flight to DC for the kids spring break. My three kids are too young to have experienced this.”

Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), in its letter to the United Airlines, has demanding action against the crew involved in the incident.

“We are tired of Muslim-looking passengers being removed from flights for the flimsiest reasons, under a cryptic claim of ‘security’,” CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab stated in a statement.

“Security means securing passengers, not harassing and humiliating them and booting them off their flight for, of all things, actually asking for security,” he added.
