ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Muhammad Mian Soomro, who was set to become State Minister for Privatisation, reportedly refused to take the ministry and flew back to Karachi, ARY News reported.
As six more ministers were inducted into Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet today, the PTI leader elected from Jacobadab refused to accept the state ministry and flew back to Karachi.
Sources say the veteran politician demanded federal ministry and was unhappy with the party decision of awarding him state ministry.
State ministries are junior ministries with an overseeing cabinet minister.
According to a handout issued by the PM Office on Saturday, Soomro was to take charge as State Minister for Privatisation and was to take oath on Monday.
Source add that the oath-taking ceremony of Soomro and three others was also delayed for the same reason that Soomro wanted to be sworn in as a federal minister.
