According to details, a married woman wary of severe penury attempted suicide on Lyari Expressway by trying to set herself on fire. She sprinkled petrol on herself when police spotted her and stopped her from the crime.
DSP Israr Tanoli told media that the woman Shakila, married with two children had sprinkled petrol on herself when police officers seized her to stop her from the crime.
Tanoli claimed that the the poor woman is the head of a poverty stricken family with a husband suffering from jaw cancer and two children.
she apparently attempted suicide as she could neither arrange for her husband’s medical treatment nor bear her children’s expenses due to poverty.
Motorway police sources said that the woman is handed over to Pak Colony police after necessary legal formalities.
