Model Town Incident – Justice Baqar Najafi conducted the hearing of the inquiry tribunal, during which 11 injured of the incident did not appear before the tribunal despite of being issued a summon, the reason being boycott of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) of any inquiry.
However, an injured constable, Amjad Ali recorded his statement to the tribunal.
Meanwhile, the inquiry tribunal inquired the Additional IG Punjab what action was taken against policemen who fired at PAT workers.
To which the Additional IG Punjab responded that investigations are ongoing and an action shall be taken upon the completion of inquiry.
The tribunal while adjourning the hearing till July 14, sought the record of telephonic contacts between the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah, Dr Tauqeer, IG Police, Home Secretary and other higher officials of the day when the incident took place, from the joint investigation team (JIT).
Moreover, the tribunal also sought a report of the incident from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
