KARACHI: Karachi Registry of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan resumed the hearing of the Balochistan Missing Persons case on Thursday, ARY News reports.
The proceedings of the case were heard by a four member bench, supervised by Chief Justice (CJ) of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.Defense Minister Khwaja Asif, Attorney General Muneer A. Malik and top officials of the Supreme Court were present during the hearing.
Khwaja Asif told the bench that no one can go beyond the constitution. He further added that no one is allowed to arrest a person without any legal basis.
The Minister for Defence informed the apex court that 738 people have been traced in the past five months but still there are people who are yet to be unearthed.
The CJ remarked that the Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch is helpless in front of the Frontier Corps (FC). He further remarked that FC has created a parallel government.
He ordered the Inspector General (IG) of FC to appear in the proceedings tomorrow otherwise a case will be filed against him. Then we’ll see how the Police cannot arrest him, CJ further remarked.
Chief Justice also remarked that the Government should tell the court that it cannot recover the persons, the court will itself give orders to the administration.
