KARACHI: A 10-year-old boy, who went missing from Karachi’s Saddar area on Friday, has returned home, said the family members of the child.

The boy had gone to study at a seminary at 11:00 am on Friday, but didn’t return home. His whereabouts remained unknown till late Friday evening.

Agitated over the child’s disappearance, the residents of the area took to the streets and blocked the Burns Road, burning tyres.

The minor boy’s family members have confirmed that the child has returned home. The unidentified person, who took him away from the seminary by luring him into buying toffees, left him at home, they added.

A report about the missing child was also lodged at Aram Bagh police station.

Taking notice of media reports, IG Sindh A.D. Khowaja had directed DIG South to submit a report on the action taken to recover the child.

The disappearance of the child came at a time when the country has already been on edge over the gory incident of the rape and murder of 7-year-old Zainab in Kasur that outraged the entire nation.

Following the Kasur tragedy, a number of the cases of child abuse have come to the fore, highlighting how children are vulnerable to sexual abuse in a brutalized society.
