ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Water and Power has announced to contribute their salaries to the Diamer-Basha and Mohmand Dams fund in pursuant of the initiative by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The decision was made during a meeting on Tuesday chaired by Secretary Ministry of Water Resources attended by officers and staff of the ministry and the office of Chairman Federal Flood Commission.
Secretary Water Resources volunteered to contribute his fifteen-day salary to the fund.
Furthermore, all the officers (BS-17 and above) of the Ministry and the Federal Flood Commission offered to contribute their 3-day pay.
The staff members (BS-1 to 16) of the Ministry and the Federal Flood Commission will contribute their one-day salary toward the fund.
Earlier, the armed forces also announced to contribute for the purpose, as officers would contribute their two-days pay while soldiers will contribute one-day salary.
Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani also also donated Rs1.5 million and urged overseas Pakistanis to contribute to the national cause. The officers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government have announced contribution of their three-day salary to the fund
The government has established a fund named the “Daimer-Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund 2018” for raising funds for construction of the two dams in the country.
The fund shall receive donations and contributions from both domestic and international donors, individuals and companies, and the general public has been requested to contribute generously.
The fund has been established under directive of Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar to overcome shortage of water and power in the country. The top judge also donate Rs1 million for the cause.
