NEW YORK: Random House says it plans to publish a memoir by Khizr Khan, the immigrant from Pakistan who spoke at the Democratic National Convention about his Army captain son’s combat death in Iraq and criticised the anti-Muslim rhetoric of then-Republican nominee Donald Trump.
The company said on Wednesday in a news release that the untitled memoir is to be published in the fall of 2017.
It also said Khizr Khan’s wife, Ghazala Khan, will contribute.
In his convention speech, Khan told how his son, Captain Humayun Khan, was killed in 2004 in Iraq and posthumously received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He asked Trump, “Have you read the Constitution?”

Khan has urged the US president-elect to bring the country together.
“We are disappointed, that’s not what we are expecting, but this is the time to move forward and begin to give hope to those that are distraught, disappointed, and that is the role that I wish to continue to play so that we can continue to move forward,” he said.
“This nation needs to move forward, and move forward together, not divided, and that is his responsibility now, to bring us all together and move us all forward without division.”
