McDonald’s flips its ‘M’ logo to honour International Women’s Day

CALIFORNIA: In what is being seen as an innovative initiative, multinational fast food chain McDonald’s has flipped its landmark logo ‘M’ for a day to mark International Women’s day on March 8.

According to pictures circulating on the social media, it is reported that at least one outlet of McDonald’s in California has turned the iconic ‘M’ sign of the company upside down, to serve as a ‘W’.

The company is using a similar logo for the masthead of its official website.

In a

statement as reported by the CNN, McDonald’s chief diversity officer Wendy Lewis said, “In celebration of women everywhere, and for the first time in our brand history, we flipped our iconic arches for International Women’s Day on March 8 in honor of the extraordinary accomplishments of women everywhere and especially in our restaurants.”

In a bid to showcase their inclusive policy, the statement claimed that in US, 62 per cent of McDonald’s employees are female, six out of 10 of restaurant managers are women.
