ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed said on Monday that the government will construct a mausoleum on the grave of nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, ARY News reported.
“The government has decided to build a mausoleum in Islamabad to honour the father of Pakistan’s nuclear bomb Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan,” he said while talking to media.
He further said that Dr Qadeer Khan’s daughter Dr Dina had been consulted about the design of the tomb.
Dr Qadeer’s daughter was asked to tell the design, the interior minister said, adding that the Islamabad Capital Development Authority has been instructed to prepare a map for the mausoleum.
Rasheed said that construction would start as soon as the map of the mausoleum was received.

It may be recalled that Pakistan’s nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan passed away on October 10 in Islamabad. The Mohsin-e-Pakistan was given a state funeral and was buried with the state honours in the H-8 graveyard.
Thousands of people, including civil and military officials, attended his funeral prayers.

In 1936, Khan was born in Bhopal, India, he later migrated along with his family to Karachi.
Khan received his early education from Karachi’s DJ Science College, then in 1961, he went to Europe for higher studies and earned his PhD degree from the universities of Germany and Holland.
Dr. Abdul Qadeer approached the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in 1974 and informed him about his expertise in the challenging process of Uranium enrichment through which Nuclear energy is acquired.
Dr AQ Khan was awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz and the Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 1989 and 1999 for his outstanding performance in the world of science and technology.
