Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite gets a release date, new characters

Sony has announced that Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite fighting game will officially launch on September 19, 2017 in Europe and North America.

The game will see the see the two worlds collide as combatants from both sides be hurled into chaos, and will also be hounded by the game’s titanic new threat – Ultron Sigma.

Apart from the Story mode, players will also have Arcade, Training, and Mission modes and various multiplayer offerings.

This is the sixth installment in the Marvel vs. Capcom series of crossover games, where players control characters from both universes to compete in two-on-two tag team battles.

It also introduces a new gameplay mechanic in the form of the Infinity Stones, which temporarily bestow players with unique abilities and boosts depending on the type of stone selected.

The game has also some additions to the Infinite roster including Ultron, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Street Fighter’s Chun-Li, Strider Hiryu, and Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield.

The pre-orders for the game has started and there are three different ways to join the fight against Ultron Sigma – Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition (which gives access to six post-launch characters including Sigma himself) and the Collector’s Edition (with four detailed, interlinking dioramas from TriForce, plus Infinity Stones).
