World T20: Pakistan fail to break World Cup jinx as Kohli extends winning streak

India won the toss and elected to field against Pakistan.

Pakistan scored 118/5 in their 18 overs. Shoaib Malik scored 26 runs from 16 balls with the help of three boundaries and a six while Ahmed Shehzad made 25 runs off 28 deliveries which included three fours.

Umar Akmal contributed 22 runs from 16 deliveries with a four and a six to his name while Sharjeel Khan scored 17 runs from 24 balls.

Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina and Hardik Pandya grabbed a wicket each in the match.

India, chasing 119 runs to win with more than two overs and six wickets to spare.

Kohli was the top scorer for the side as he made an unbeaten 55 runs from 37 balls with seven boundaries and a six.

Yuvraj Singh scored 24 runs from 23 balls with a four and a six while skipper M.S. Dhoni hit 13 runs from nine balls.

Mohammad Sami grabbed two wickets for Pakistan while Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz dismissed one batsmen each.

The match was reduced to 18-overs per side due to heavy rains in the city. The start of the highly anticipated Pak-India game was also delayed as well.

Pakistan had dropped spinner Imad Wasim from the playing XI and replaced him with pacer Mohammad Sami.

India, on the other hand, have not made any changes to their side.

Earlier, a ceremony was held in which cricketing legends from the two countries including Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Sunil Gavaskar and Sourav Ganguly were present.
