According to the details, five member bench, consisting of Justice Syed Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Justice SM Kazim Raza Shamsi, Justice M Sohail Iqbal Bhatti and Justice Shahzada Mazhar, heard the case at Lahore High Court.
CEO Salman Iqbal appeared in person before the LHC on the occasion of hearing of a case pertaining to the channel. At this, Justice Mazahir praised Salman Iqbal for coming all the way from Paris, showing his respect for the court of law.
“Had the CEO ARY News even sent a single-line written answer, the court would have accepted it”, said Justice Mazahir.
During the hearing, Salman Iqbal said that the ARY Group has always respected courts and it has always been preoccupied by patriotism. He had returned to Pakistan in emergency despite his son’s health conditions who is hospitalised and soon to undergo a surgery.
The counsel of ARY News took the stance that the largest media group has always respected the courts and it has played a key role for the restoration of the Judiciary.
Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi during the hearing observed that the court had not issued orders for suspension of the license of ARY News adding that Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had misinterpreted the orders of the court.
Key Management and anchors of ARY, Journalists from different media organizations, members of press club, supporters of various political parties including PTI, PAT and PPP were present in the court to support ARY. People were also holding charts in support of Khara Sach and Mubasher Lucman, and also chanted slogans of “Go Nawaz go”.
