Speaking at a news conference here, Khattak said the people in KP are greatly troubled for nearly five institutions each like Ehtesab Commission and Anti-Corruption Department are working in the province.
“We formed an independent accountability commission and empowered it,” he said. “The head and members of which were appointed after taking the provincial legislature into confidence.”
He said that serious differences occurred between the members and head of Ehtesab Commission, due to which it was decided to amend the rules of the commission.
The chief minister said the purpose of introducing reforms was to bring improvement, not for powers, adding that the commission is still independent and will always be free of any kind of interference.
He expressed sorrow over allegations leveled by former chief of the Ehtesab Commission.
Expressing his fears, Pervez Khattak also announced that the appointments in the commission will be scrutinized.
