KARACHI: Intelligence agencies apprehended two suspected militants in a raid in Karachi’s Manghopir area, ARY News reported on Monday.
The arrested suspects are said to be members of a militant group headed by Raheem Swati, operating in the city. They have been arrested in suspicion of involvement in killings of police officers in the city, law enforcement sources said.
It should be noted that Raheem Swati is the prime suspect in the murder case of renowned social worker Parveen Rehman.
Rehman was shot dead in March 2013 when she was working as the director of the Orangi Town Pilot Project.
Swati is said to have links with members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He was arrested from Manghopir. He is said to be involved in several ethnic and sectarian terrorist acts.
