Karachi: Three die by drowning in factory chemical tank

KARACHI: Three labourers of a textile factory died by drowning in a tank full of chemicals and dirty water in Karachi’s Port Qasim area, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

According to area police, five workers of the textile factory fell in chemical tank of the textile factory in Karachi on Monday evening.

Divers were called at the scene of the incident to rescue the drowning victims. Two labourers were saved in the rescue operation whereas three dead bodies were recovered from the tank, police sources said.

Three deceased were identified as Raheel, Amir and Aijaz. The deceased workers were residents of Korangi area.

The employees of the textile company said that chemical and stagnant water was the cause of death.

Poor safety measures in factories result in several incidents which cause losses of life in industrial concerns in Karachi and other parts of Pakistan.
