KARACHI: City Court of Karachi on Monday granted bail to a woman who had crushed to death a cat on February 1st in Karachi’s Clifton area, ARY News reported.
According to details, the woman, identified as Tehmina, was granted bail in return of Rs. 30,000 as a security deposit.
A case was filed against her on a local court’s directives after Karachi’s Darakhshan Police had refused from filing a case on the complaint of a citizen, Faaiz.
The police had maintained that the cat was a stray cat, and had it been a pet animal, a case could be registered.

Subsequently, the citizen approached the court which ordered the police to register a case.
The woman told the court that she wanted to face the trial as she stood by her stance that the cat was not a pet but a street cat.
On the other hand, the petitioner prayed to the court to sentence the woman as protection of animal rights was guaranteed throughout the world including Pakistan.
