LAHORE: Justice Mohammad Farrukh Irfan Khan of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has tendered his resignation, citing sources ARY News reported on Tuesday.

Justice Farrukh Irfan, a sitting judge of the high court, has sent his resignation from the office to the President, sources said.

Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan was facing a reference as his name surfaced on the list of those having offshore properties abroad. He was also issued a show-cause notice by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) in February 2017.

As the five-judge SJC, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa, resumed the proceedings of the reference today, the court was informed that Justice Farrukh Irfan has tendered resignation from office.

The SJC ended the misconduct reference proceedings against the high court judge after the court was reported about that the judge has stepped down from his office.

Justice Farrukh Irfan in an application submitted to the SJC through his lawyer in February said that defence witnesses could not travel to Pakistan in view of the security situation and tension between Pakistan and India due to which the international airl travel system was disturbed and flights were not operating in the region at regular schedules.
