Judi Dench had a bizarre nomination at SAG Awards after glaring typo

Veteran Hollywood actress Judi Dench Twitter faced an awkward nomination at the SAG Awards after a glaring typo flashed on the giant screen, prompting an internet stir.

Dench, 83, was nominated for Outstanding Female Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Queen Victoria in Victoria and Abdul – but the announcement was upstaged by a glaring typo.

Dench’s face flashed up on the screen alongside the words “Leading Roll”.

Predictably, Twitter couldn’t handle the error, with users quickly flooding the site with bread memes and emojis.

One user tweeted: “She played a fantastic French bread.”

Another posted: “What’s a leading “roll”? Like a somersault??”

Dench was up against I, Tonya’s Margot Robbie, The Shape of Water’s Sally Hawkins, Saoirse Ronan of Lady Bird and Frances McDormand, who won for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

The Martin McDonagh directed film was the night’s biggest winner, taking home Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for Sam Rockwell.
