GHOTKI: A jirga allegedly ordered honor killing of a woman and forced marriages of two young girls in Sindh’s Ghotki district, ARY News reported.
According to ruling of the jirga, headed by a feudal lord, the woman Sudoori Chachar should be killed while directing the woman’s husband Yousuf Chachar to pay Rs1.5 million besides marrying off his two daughters according to the will of the jirga.
The punishment was announced because Sudoori and Yusuf had contracted a free will marriage.
It is pertinent to note here that Supreme Court of Pakistan had banned jirgas across the country in 2012.
