M. Ali Jinnah was born at Wazir Mansion Kharadar in Karachi a two storey building in the heart of today’s M.A. Jinnah Road Karachi. Jinnah’s parents acquired a two room apartment in this building that was build by wazir ponawala in lime jute mortar stone masonry just two years before his birth. This is the place where Quaid spent his childhood before leaving for Britain. The building that treasures the belongings of the father of nation was acknowledged as a historical National Monument by Government of Pakistan in 1953. The two storey museum is full of things used by Quaid-e-Azam. The museum has an immense value because dwellers of the country and foreigners visit it time to time to see the classic life style of Jinnah. This place gives an impression that Quaid’s relation with this place was never broken even after he left it for Britain and then for Bombay.
Wazir Mansion is not the only place in Karachi where Quaid-e-Azam lived, he also resided in a beautiful yellow stone double strayed building near Avari tower/Metropole. The structure that has been built in limestone masonry is known as the original house of Quaid-e-Azam. This beautiful building which was earlier known as Flagstaff House and then became Quaid-e-Azam House is filled with the belongings of Quaid which was airlifted from Bombay. This place is also a must visit place as it shows you the reflection of Quaid’s life back in 1940s. Quaid lived here from 1944 to 1948.
The remarkable journey of a tall, lean, exceptionally intelligent and one of the most renowned leader of the world ended at the same city where it all started. The man who was born in Karachi took his last breathe also in the vicinity of this city his profound relationship with the city of lights was so strong that it became the last resting place of the father of the nation. He is buried in the heart of the city in a beautiful white marble mausoleum designed by a renowned architect Yahya Merchant. Every year million of Pakistani visits his tomb on his birthday to pay tribute to our father without who made it possible for us to breathe in an independent state.
