According to details, her partner, actor Sooraj Pancholi, accused of abetting suicide, was acquitted of the charges.

“Due to paucity of evidence, this court can’t hold you [Pancholi] guilty, hence acquitted,” Judge AS Sayyed of the special court said, as reported by Indian news.

Speaking to the media after the verdict, the actor’s mother Rabia Khan said that only the abetment charges are eliminated while the death of her daughter still remains a mystery. “The question mark is ‘How did my child die?’ The cause of death is still pending,” she stated.

For the uninitiated, the rising actor Jiah Khan, known for her work in films like ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Housefull’, was found dead at her Mumbai apartment, on June 3, 2013. She was 25 at the time of suicide.

Based on a letter purportedly written by her and seized a week later, Mumbai Police had booked the ‘Hero’ debutante for abetment to suicide, under section 306, and he was arrested.
