Jaun Elia was born on 14th December 1931 at Amroha in India’s Uttar Pradesh state. He came to Pakistan in 1957 and got settled in Karachi.
His life is circled around enmity against the society, tradition, and the prevailing system. His rebellion against the sysrtem made him a unique poet in Urdu literature.
The poet included topics such as objection, confronting the Almighty, rebellion against the system, humans being upset with themselves, failure in love alongwith anger and disgust in his literary works which few of the poets of that time discussed in their writings.
Jaun Elia wrote his first verse at the age of eight whereas he published his first compilation “Shayad” (maybe) in the 90s.
Elia was also a fluent in Arabic, English, Persian, Sanskrit and Hebrew.
He passed away on 8th November in 2002 at the age of 71 due to an illness.
