‘Jacqueline Fernandez tried to flee from India,’ said ED in bail plea response

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opposed the bail plea of Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez in the INR200 crore extortion case.

As per the reports from Indian media outlets, ED, on Saturday, opposed the bail plea filed by Fernandez in the Patiala House Court of Delhi, citing the ‘high stature and influence’ of the Bollywood celebrity as the reason.

According to the details, the investigation agency said that the Bollywood celebrity failed to ‘cooperate with the probe’ and only disclosed the details when ‘confronted with evidence’. Moreover, ED also claimed that Fernandez made an attempt to flee from the country but couldn’t due to the issuance of LOC (look-out circular).

“Jacqueline [Fernandez] is no ordinary person but a Bollywood actress with huge financial resources and hence high stature and influence,” said ED in response to the plea, as noted by Shailender Malik – additional sessions judge – in the hearing on Saturday.

Reportedly, the court extended the interim bail of the actor and deferred the matter for November 10.

Furthermore, the court directed the ED to provide the charge sheet and other relevant documents to all parties involved in the case.

It is pertinent to mention here that the legal team of Jacqueline Fernandez moved the bail plea in the Delhi court on September 26. While the bail plea was on hold seeking a response from Enforcement Directorate (ED), the additional session judge granted interim bail to Fernandez, against an INR50,000 bond.

For the unversed, ED, in the supplementary charge sheet – filed before PMLA court – accused the Bollywood celeb of receiving gifts worth millions from conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar – the prime accused of the infamous INR200 crore fraud case.

Reportedly, Fernandez and her family received gifts worth millions including Persian cats, a horse, diamond jewellery, designer bags from brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, and luxury cars in addition to money from Chandrashekhar.

Moreover, reports also suggest that Sukesh gave a Ducati bike to actor’s manager Prashant ‘to impress her’ and also a diamond ring from Tiffany with their initials ‘J&S’ inscribed as a proposal jewel.

While the names of several Bollywood ladies have emerged in the case, for either receiving or being offered to receive gifts from Chandrashekhar, Jacqueline Fernandez is said to be ‘in more trouble’ as she continued her involvement with the conman even after knowing his criminal antecedents.
