IPL Corruption: Investigator suspended for taking bribes

MUMBAI: The officer investigating the corruption scam in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended by the authorities for taking bribes, ARY News reports on Friday.

According to Indian media, SP Sampath Kumar has allegedly took Rs. 53 lac rupees bribe for removing the name of a bookie from the investigation. Crime Branch has also recovered the money from the police officer.

Top official of the Indian Police has confirmed the suspension of the cop.

Sampath Kumar, in his statement to the International Cricket Council (ICC), claimed that the bookie had told him that he was in touch with Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
