ISLAMABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa home department has directed on Wednesday its police to hand over lawmaker Ali Wazir to Sindh Police for a pending case being tried over his allegedly contentious remarks, ARY News reported.

Sindh Police had earlier written to KP authorities requesting Wazir’s arrest as he allegedly made on Dec 6 some anti-state remarks that police say compromised the stature of armed forces of the country.

Ali Wazir who is a lawmaker for Pakistan’s lower house from NA-50 constituency has been booked in a case for making remarks that allegedly malign state institutions and for that the Sindh police, for whom he is an absconder, have written to home secretary seeking detention of KP-based lawmaker to proceed with its case.

It may be noted that KP police, too, had registered a case against Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader and member of National Assembly Ali Wazir over hate speech and desecration of Pakistani flag, back in March as well.

The case was registered on the complaint of Charsadda SHO.

MNA Ali Wazir was involved in the desecration of Pakistani flag, hate speech and provoked people against the national institutions in his speech at a public gathering, the First Information Report (FIR) read.
