Intelligence official shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: Unidentified gunmen shot dead an intelligence official in Korangi area of Karachi, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Unknown armed men opened fire at an intelligence officer Zahid Farooq in the jurisdiction of Ibrahim Hyderi Police Station, police sources said.

The victim succumbed to his injuries as he was being rushed to Combined Military Hospital Karachi for medical treatment.

“Initially, it seems that the incident took place as Farooq was resisting a robbery attempt,” Police stated.

Meanwhile, Police and Rangers arrested five suspected persons during raids in different parts of Karachi.

Rangers arrested an activist of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), Sohaib Nadeem, in a raid in Naagan Chowrangi area. He was shifted to unknown location for investigation.

Two street criminals were arrested by policemen at Boat Basin. Weapons,  stolen motorcycles and mobile phones were recovered from the arrested suspects.

Police also nabbed two suspects from Super Highway and seized 144 bottles of liquor from them. They were taken to police station for questioning and a case was filed against them.
