Indonesia interested in bilateral trade with KP in oil and gas sector

PESHAWAR: The embassy of Indonesia and Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) have settled to enhance bilateral trade quantity, by looking into more investment prospects and removing the hindrances in between the commercial trade of two countries.

Iwan Suyudhie Amri, Indonesia Ambassador to Pakistan and Zahid Shinwari, SCCI President also decided on point of exchange of business delegations and investment in oil, gas and hydroelectric power generation in Pakistan in general and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) specially.

A meeting was held between Indonesian diplomats and SCCI members in the provincial capital, where Amri said, “Indonesia is eager to expand all its support and it is on high precedence to encourage trade between these two countries.”

He also added that the trade volumes between Pakistan and Indonesia had augmented following a free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries.

The Indonesian envoy informed SCCI members that also 20 more goods had been zero-rated, due to FTA, which can also be the main reason for improvised trade volume.

The ambassador admired the efforts of SCCI for their victorious proposal for industrialization and encouraging trade.

He also guaranteed the chamber that Indonesia will put aggressive efforts to enhance economic reforms, trade and various related sectors.

Previously, Shinwari also explained the Indonesian ambassador regarding the investment prospects in K-P, also defining the advantage of bright future for Indonesian businessmen, specially the planned construction of 50,000 houses which are freshly announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
