Indian army to buy 3000 anti-tank missiles from France

The Indian Army plans to buy more than 3,000 Milan 2T anti-tank guided missiles from France worth ten billion rupees in order to provide more power to its infantry units, Radio Pakistan reported on Tuesday.

This purchase is being carried out in a bid to further its hegemonic designs in South Asia. Milan 2T is a French second-generation anti-Tank guided missile, which is produced in India by Bharat Dynamics Limited with a range of over 2-km.

“An Army proposal in this regard would come up for discussion at a high-level meeting of the

Defence Ministry for buying more than 3,000 of the second-generation Milan 2T ATGMs which are license-produced by the Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) in partnership with a French firm,” relayed sources.

According to New Delhi times, the Indian Army requires around 70,000 ATGMs  along with 850 launchers of different types. They are also looking for third-generation ATGMs with a longer range than that existing ones.

“The procurement of Milan 2T ATGMs is expected to be the stopgap arrangement before the army gets its third-generation ATGM that is undergoing trials,” sources further revealed.
