Imran Tahir impressed by PSL standards

DUBAI: South African leg-spinner Imarn Tahir praised the standards and organization of the Pakistan Super League, saying he was proud to have taken wickets against batsmen who play spinners well.

Tahir, representing Multan Sultans, took 3-19 to help his team fight hard in the defence of a modest 114-run target against Islamabad United. Tahir jolted Islamabad with wickets of Sahibzada Farhan, Asif Ali and Andre Russell and at one point on a hat trick which was avoided.

Islamabad rode on a brilliant 48 not out by Hussain Talat to win by five wickets.

Tahir said the league has a good standard and is well organized.

“It’s a well organized league and I am greatly enjoying it,” said Tahir. “I think the standard is good and I am loving it very much. The standard is good and it’s not easy for a spinner to do well here.”

Tahir said Islamabad benefitted from winning the toss in overcast conditions.

“We think every team is the big team and we didn’t think that we had won so it was easy. I think they bowed well and the conditions were helpful for them. Pollard was the key wicket,” said Tahir.

Shoaib Malik (35) and Kieron Pollard (28) added 54 for the fifth wicket after Sultans were caught napping at 31-4.

Tahir said he works very hard and respects the game.

“I am proud to have wickets against players who play spin well. I have worked very hard and why I am here is I have to respect. If you respect the game, the game respects you. I don’t take things for granted. They bowled well to win for them. I am satisfied because we fought hard and well.”
